Benno Hafner is an accomplished Swiss attorney, specializing in commercial, contractual, corporate, banking, stock exchange, and international law, as well as conflict of laws, tax law, art law, and private clients.

He focuses on advising both corporations and private clients in matters of contract law, commercial and corporate affairs, and complex banking and financial market regulations. Over the course of his career, he has held senior legal positions, including Head of Legal at the Kontron Group (formerly part of F. Hoffmann-La Roche), and served as Partner in a prominent Zurich business law firm before founding Hafner & Hochstrasser in 1992. In 2004, he established Aveva Trust SA, where he remains President of the Board of Directors.

After completing his lic. iur. at the University of Bern in 1978, Benno earned his attorney’s license in 1980 and later obtained an LL.M. in International Business Law at the University of Zurich in 1998. He is a member of the Swiss Bar Association (SAV), the Zurich Bar Association (ZAV), and the Lucerne Legal Society.

Benno’s publications include guest articles in NZZ and Inside Paradeplatz, interviews in Zentralschweiz am Sonntag and BaZ, and features in Handelszeitung, Bilanz, and Tiroler Tageszeitung. His written works span from “Copyright as a Financing Instrument” (1998) to “Decision-making in Public Limited Companies” (2017), and his insights also appear in the Tagesanzeiger’s Fokus Rechtsguide regarding FINMA regulations.
